The actors on The Office generally improvised to upload in jokes. But there was a candy second between Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Angela (Angela Kinsey) that was improvised because she was terrified. Kinsey talked about why she was so scared to do the scene and how Wilson helped her through it.

“I close down,” the actor defined. “My mind computer is like ‘Ehhhh I will be able to’t do it.’ And there’s been a few times in my career when I’ve had to do this and this was the first time and I was terrified.”

But Wilson got here in and helped her. “I shared with Rainn how scared I was,” she said. Kinsey did a couple of takes with the microphone being on a stand. She had her hands gripped in combination so tightly that she was leaving marks and she showed Wilson.

That’s when he took the microphone, dropped to his knee, and began making the beat because Kinsey had a difficult time staying on beat. “All of a sudden I wasn’t on my own. Rainn was with me,” Kinsey said.

We see her smile because of Wilson’s help in the scene. The smile wasn’t scripted for Angela. It’s a real one because Kinsey was happy to have her buddy help her during the scene.
